Being a Disciple:

At Salem, we believe discipleship is not only something we learn; it is something we live.

Each month, we are inviting our church family to take one practical step of faith together. Some challenges will focus on serving our community. Some will focus on prayer. Some will help us grow in Scripture, relationships, generosity, and compassion.

The goal is simple: to help us follow Jesus together in visible, practical ways.

This Month’s Discipleship Challenge: Pray for Our Schools

As a new school year begins, our Discipleship Challenge is simple: pray for the people who are shaping, serving, and supporting the next generation.

That includes students, teachers, administrators, coaches, counselors, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, support staff, school board members, homeschool families, and everyone serving in both public and private education.

But we don’t want to stop at simply saying, “We’re praying for you.” We want our prayers to move us toward presence.

Pray specifically for the schools and educators in your life. Ask a teacher how you can pray for them. Write an encouraging note to a principal. Drop off coffee for a school office. Help a teacher purchase classroom supplies. Encourage a bus driver or custodian. Check on a homeschool family. Volunteer when opportunities are available. Find simple, practical ways to remind those serving our students that they are seen, valued, and supported.

You may not be called to work in a school, but you can still have an impact on one.

This month, choose a school. Choose a person. Pray intentionally. And look for a way to show up with the love of Jesus.

September: Join a Life Group or Bible Study

In September, we are inviting everyone to take one month and join a Life Group, Bible study, or devotional group.

Groups will include in-person gatherings, Zoom options, and digital devotional groups through the YouVersion Bible App. You will be able to choose a group based on leader, format, schedule, and topic.
